The Art of Nostalgia
Analog Photography
It all began in June 2020 with a passed-down legacy: a Nikon F301 received from a mother. This camera triggered a passion for grain and texture. While the first shots captured the carefree nature of holidays, the need to structure the gaze quickly emerged, going beyond the snapshot to build a narrative.
That is where the 'Born Too Late' project makes perfect sense. This name is not a regret; it is a declaration. One of a phantom nostalgia for an era not lived through but which the photographer seeks to resurrect through the chemistry of film. Unlike digital, analog imposes a philosophy of scarcity: each click is a choice, a renunciation, a risk.
The gear evolved towards a Rollei 35, more compact, more discreet, the ideal companion for capturing the liveliness of travel and the intimacy of street scenes. This stretched temporality becomes essential: the wait for development, the uncertainty of the result, and finally the rediscovery of a memory left to mature.
Since March 2023 and the founding series 'Rue des Mauvais Garçons', the work is conceived in cycles. There is no unique, fixed, or repetitive style. On the contrary, each series is a rupture. The artist changes cameras, film stocks, and approaches to adapt to the subject. The only constant is this search for an aesthetic that spans time, seeking to anchor the present in a gentle eternity.
